Series Setup Decisions That Shape Every Video
The choices you make when creating a Kineclip series (niche, formats, hooks, captions, voice, length, timing) and how each shapes every video that follows.
A series is a set of choices applied to every video it produces. Make the choices deliberately, once, then review a few videos before changing anything. There is no free-text brief: the niche, formats and styles do the steering.
A Kineclip series is not a single video. It is a bundle of decisions, repeated on a schedule. That makes the setup unusually important: a poor choice is not one weak video, it is thirty.
This guide goes through each decision, what it controls and how to choose. It describes the settings as they exist in the product at the time of writing; if the interface differs when you read this, trust the interface.
What you can and cannot set
You choose from a fixed list of 21 niches and from sets of formats, hook styles, voices and visual styles. You cannot write a free-text description of the channel, and there are no niches for topics such as education, authors or non-profits. If your subject sits between the listed niches, pick the closest one and steer with the formats. For single videos about your own subject, use Create from source or a queued series story draft; Kineclip writes the final wording itself. The Script Editor can help you draft that text but does not send it to a series. This is a limit, and it is better to know it before you start.
The decisions
| Decision | What it controls | How to choose |
|---|---|---|
| Niche | The topic area and the kind of content generated | Pick the one you can imagine watching for a month. Avoid choosing for supposed profit. |
| Video formats | The structure: up to three of 8 formats per series | Choose formats that suit the niche. Fewer formats gives a recognisable style; more gives variety. |
| Hook styles | How each video opens (there are 12 styles) | Start with a spread, then narrow using the evidence. See the hooks guide. |
| Art style | The look of the visuals | Choose one that suits the subject and holds up on a phone. See choosing an art style. |
| Voice | The narrator | Listen to the samples with a script from your niche. See choosing a voice. |
| Language | The language of scripts and voiceovers | Match your audience. See the second-language plan. |
| Caption style | One of 4 presets, chosen when you create the series | Test readability on a phone. See the caption checklist. |
| Length | A shorter preset or a longer preset | Choose from the story. See how long videos should be. |
| Motion | Gentle pan and zoom on, or static visuals | On by default. Consider off for dense or sensitive content. See motion safety. |
| Timing | When videos are generated: Kineclip picks a daily time, or you choose one or two | Pick a time when your audience is active, remembering that times use your device’s time zone. |
A setup routine that avoids rework
- Decide the audience and the promise in one sentence on paper. The product cannot take this, but you will use it to pick settings consistently.
- Choose niche and formats first. They decide the content.
- Pick voice, look and captions together, using a sample script, so they do not clash. A dramatic voice with a playful caption style is a common mismatch.
- Set length and timing last. They are easy to change.
- Generate a few videos and review them with the pre-publish checklist before committing to a full schedule.
When videos feel off, change this first
| Symptom | First setting to look at |
|---|---|
| Every video feels the same | Formats: add a second or third |
| Openings are weak | Hook styles |
| Voice feels wrong for the topic | Voice |
| Hard to read on a phone | Caption style and art style |
| Videos feel rushed or drag | Length preset |
| Wrong topics altogether | Niche |
The troubleshooting guide goes through the same list in more detail, and the series health check helps decide when to stop adjusting and change direction.
Cost of experimenting
Every generated video uses your plan’s allowance and every series is billed at the full plan price, so a bad setup is an actual cost, not only a time cost. See which plan to choose for what each tier includes. Reviewing a handful of videos before settling on the setup is cheaper than correcting a month of publishing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I write a brief describing my channel?
No. Kineclip does not take a free-text series brief. You steer a series through the choices described here: niche, formats, hook styles, look, voice, language, caption style, length and timing. For a specific topic, use Create from source or a queued series story draft; Kineclip writes its own wording from your text. The Script Editor is a drafting tool and does not feed a series.
How many series can I have?
Up to 4 series per account. Each series is billed at the full plan price, so it is worth choosing deliberately instead of creating throwaways.
Can I change a setting later?
Settings can be revisited, but changes mainly affect videos generated after the change. Changing several at once makes the result hard to read, so change one at a time and keep a short log.
Which setting matters most?
The niche and the video formats. Everything else adjusts how a video looks and sounds, while those two decide what it is about and how it is structured.
